Y3 Class News 20-24.9.21

We’ve had another super week of learning from everyone in Year 3! Children are continuing with their transition from KS1 to KS2, learning lots of new routines and becoming more and more independent as the weeks go by. We had our first Big Maths sessions in school this week and enjoyed spending time practising our maths skills in small groups.  Big Maths folders also went home for the first time. Remember, you can practise your maths skills at home using your weekly skills check and the prompt sheet from your Big Maths folder.

Our homework routines have got off to a great start. Children are completing and returning homework promptly. Don’t forget, reading is also an important part of our homework too. Reading and signing our Reading Record three times a week will earn us 1 smiley, and if we read 6 times we can earn two!

In Science we have been Forensic Scientists, learning about what they do and taking and analysing our own fingerprints. We’ve also enjoyed linking our Stone Age History topic with Art. This week we sketched native British animals using different types of pencils. We then learned how to scale up our drawings and sketch again using charcoal.

We look forward to more exciting learning next week.

Enjoy your weekend.
